Clients ask for gel, acrylic and dip by name — so every nail tech should know the difference cold.

Gel

Cured under a UV/LED lamp, gel gives a glossy, flexible finish that is great for natural-nail overlays and gel polish. It soaks off cleanly.

Acrylic

A liquid-and-powder system that air-dries hard and strong. Ideal for extensions and sculpted shapes, it is filed rather than soaked off.

Dip powder

The nail is dipped in colored powder and sealed with resin — no lamp needed. It is fast, durable and popular for everyday wear. Knowing when to recommend each keeps clients happy and coming back.
